How Many Baby Teeth?

Baby teeth typically began to appear between six months and one year.  Baby’s teeth help children speak and chew as well as hold space in the jaws for permanent teeth.  When the baby teeth fully erupt, by the age of three, they have 20 teeth; however, there are 32 adult teeth.  When baby teeth are lost, to early permanent teeth may drift compounding problems for permanent teeth.  The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), advise that children should visit the dentist by their first birthday.  At Verde Pointe, pediatric dentistry is just one of the services we provide for the whole family.  From kids dentistry to senior’s dentistry Verde Pointe makes it important to serve the entire family for a lifetime.  From a child’s first visit we want to ensure they have the best impressions of their visits to dentists, so they look forward to a lifetime of dental service.

Baby Teeth Order

Typically the bottom two front teeth come in between three and six months of age.  Then the top two front teeth between six and 12 months.  The upper teeth to the right and left generally come in next followed by the lower teeth so they have the front four on both the top and bottom shortly after their first birthday.  The first molars tend to come in after that usually by the time they are 1 ½.  The upper canines or cuspids should come in shortly after that and the lower cuspids before the child is two.  The secondary molars usually arrive within the next six months.
